If i go to manual mode i can easily set a frequency and level to get a CW signal but it will not remain in the unit after USB disconnect and power off/on. How do i get a steady CW signal to remain in the unit for every day usage after power on?

All settings in the MANUAL MODE will be lost after power off and that is exactly how it should work...
If you want something to REMAIN in the unit after power off use the PROGRAM MODE. In your case simply add a "CW program": Just set frequency and level and a long delay time (max 32s), save it to the units memory and thats it. You will now get your CW signal back after each power on.
